I don't live in a chic city like New York or some other exotic place in Europe. I live in suburbia. Strip malls (and shopping malls) abound, and it is challenging to find something interesting to capture. There are, however, little pockets of quaintness, which can allow me for a second to imagine that I am living somewhere with character and personality.
"I think I've discovered the secret of life - you just hang around until you get used to it." {Charles M. Schulz}
I don't often go into the city, but a few good friends and I took a trip
for the day to celebrate a birthday. The weather was sunny and mild,
strange for this time of the year, but perfect for the occasion. We
spent our time eating and lingering and observing the sights and
sounds. We even rode the carousel. I took these photos in black and white because I wanted to capture some of the moments as timeless. I was reminded today of how time passes by so quickly, but it stressed that I should do something with this time I have and make the most of it.

I've always loved taking pictures and being able to come back to them to
recall the captured moments. I started this site to share photos which
reflect little things or experiences that give me joy, evoke a feeling or thought, or
even help me to appreciate this God-given life. To kick off the new
year and my new site, here are a few favorite photos from 2011. Happy
New Year.
